General Skilled Independent Migration allows you to become a Permanent Resident of Australia. After you become a permanent resident, you can study, work in any job and live in Australia permanently. You will be eligible to receive subsidised healthcare through Medicare and the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and you may be eligible to become an Australian Citizen when you meet the required Citizenship Criteria.

This General Skilled Independent Visa is a Points Based Migration Visa. Currently Pass mark for General Skilled Independent Migration is 120 Points. These Points are calculated against your Age, English language ability, nominated Skilled Occupation, Work Experience, Partner Skills and Other categories.

Basic Requirements for Skilled Independent Migration:
Age: Must be between 18 and 45 years
English Language Ability: Must be Competent English or Vocational English (if nominated Occupation is Tradepersons)
Skill Assessment: Must nominate an Occupation from Skilled Occupation List (SOL) and must obtain a positive skills assessment from the appropriate Skill Assessing Authority
Work Experience: Must be employed in an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL) for twelve (12) months of the last twenty four (24) months immediately. or have met the two (2) years study in Australia requirement in the last six (6) months.
Others You can have have extra points if you have been employed for three (3) of the last four (4) years in an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List (SOL). If your Nominated Occupation is in Demand you can have some extra points as well.
