If you want to enter or remain in Australia on the basis of your relationship with your partner, this visa is for you. Your partner must be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen and willing to sponsor you.
This visa currently has no point test but you have to meet the basic requirements such as your Age, Sponsorship and Relationship.
Basic Requirements for Spouse/ Partner Visa (Subclass 309)

Must be over 18 years. |
| Relationship: |
You and your partner must show a mutual commitment to a shared life as husband and wife and provide evidence of a genuine and continuing relationship. |
| De-Facto Applicant: |
Must have been in a de-facto spouse relationship with your partner for the entire 12 months immediately prior to lodging your application. |
| Married Applicant: |
Marriage must be legal under Australian Law. |
| Sponsorship: |
Must be sponsored by an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or an eligible New Zealand Citizen. Usually by your partner. |
