Page 1 of 2 If you have a child (natural, adopted or step child) who is a settled Australian citizen or permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen, you may be eligible to apply for parent migration. Your spouse and other family members may be included in your application if they meet certain requirements.This visa requires sponsorship from your child in Australia.
Basic Requirements for Parent Visa:

| Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) Visa (Subclass 864) |
If you are an aged parent of a child (natural, adopted or step child) who is a settled Australian citizen, settled permanent resident or settled eligible New Zealand citizen, you will be eligible to apply for this visa. This visa costs more than the Aged Parent Visa but is generally processed faster. |
| Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) Visa (Subclass 884) |
If you are an aged parent of a child (natural, adopted or step child) who is a settled Australian citizen, settled permanent resident or settled eligible New Zealand citizen, you will be eligible to apply for this visa to live in Australia for two (2) years. If you hold this visa you can apply for the permanent Contributory Aged Parent (Residence) visa (subclass 864). |

If you are an aged parent of a child (natural, adopted or step child) who is a settled Australian citizen, settled permanent resident or settled eligible New Zealand citizen and you hold a Contributory Aged Parent (Temporary) visa (subclass 884), you can apply for a permanent visa Contributory Aged Parent (Migrant) visa (subclass 864). |
