Carer Visa

This visa allows, an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or an eligible New Zealand Citizen who has a medical condition and needed care, to sponsor a relative to provide them help where the sponsor need help with practical aspects of daily life.

Application made Inside Australia (Carer Visa: (Subclass 836): The applicant must be in Australia at the time of application and at the time of visa grant.

Application made Outside Australia (Carer Visa: Subclass 116): The application must be made outside Australia and the applicant must be outside Australia at the time of visa grant.

Basic Requirements for Carer Visa:

Relative in Australia

Must have an eligible relative who is settled Australian citizen or permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen and usually resident in Australia and must have a medical condition that requires your care.

Sponsorship Must be sponsored by an eligible relative who must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident or an eligible New Zealand Citizen and usually resident in Australia.

Care requirements

As the purpose of this visa is to allow to care for a relative in Australia. The applicant must be willing and able to provide the care which is required.
